Recifest holds its eighth edition with free sessions at Teatro do Parque

Tickets are free and can be picked up at the theater box office on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 6pm. On Wednesday and Saturday at 5 pm. In March of this year, Recifest carried out a completely online edition, also with films, dialogue wheels and workshops, but remotely.

To have access to the festival, you must be over 16 years old and present proof of vaccination. Each session will also be available online, until 7pm the following day, at Recifest Play, an area of ​​the official website. Along with the films, the festival features performances, the launch of the book Três Meninos e um Quarto, by Biu da Silva, actions such as Recifest nas Escolas and Recifest nas Comunidade, in addition to training activities that include workshops, masterclasses and dialogue circles.

The first session of the Competitive Shows, Areias Escaldantes, presents six short films, from Pernambuco and Ceará, with a total duration of 75 minutes.

Recifest registered entries from more than 240 productions, from 23 states of Brazil and the Federal District. Of this total, 27 films were selected by the curatorship formed by André Antônio, Anti Ribeiro and Felipe André Silva. All competing films were released from January 2019 and have a maximum duration of 30 minutes.

AWARDS

The works entered in the competitive exhibition will compete for the Best Film awards in two categories: Filme Pernambucano and Filme Nacional. The first is aimed at short films with producers and/or directors from Pernambuco. The second category is for films made nationwide.

The films will be awarded by an official jury and also based on the choice of the public, who will vote through an online form provided by the organization. Both in the official awards and in the popular choice, the winner of each category takes the prize of R$ 2,500.

In addition to the cash awards, Recifest will award trophies for the categories of Best Short Film Direction; Best Screenplay in Short Film; Best Short Film Interpretation and Best Art Direction. There will also be awards in services, such as partnerships with the International Academy of Cinema – AIC, which will give a place in the assistant director’s course, and the finalizer MISTIKA, which will provide image finishing services to some of the competitors.
